Testimonials

Thank you so much for helping me with my grout problem. It was such a disaster. I didn't even know that my floor could be regrouted; I thought it was just ruined. I also appreciate your advice on how to keep it clean and nice. Thank you.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs » Sealing Granite Tiles

  • Q: When is the best time to seal my granite floors and how do I know that mine need sealing now?
  • A: The best time to have your granite tiles sealed is immediately after installation to prevent any accidental staining or damage. You will know that your granite needs sealing once you start noticing patchy sealed areas and/or your granite tiles are staining easier.

Other FAQs :

  • Q: How long does the sealer last?
  • A: This depends on the type of sealer you decide to seal your tiles with. Topical sealers usually have a lifetime of around 3 years, while impregnating sealers have a lifetime of up to 15 years. On vertical surfaces impregnating sealers could last a lifetime, however, on heavy walkway areas or heavily used areas such as shower recesses, the areas should be checked more often and re-sealed if necessary.

You can test how porous your surfaces are by applying a drop of water to the surface and watching how it is absorbed. You can then see how any type of water based stain can be absorbed by the surface.
    • Q: Why is it important for me to have my granite tiles sealed?
    • A: Sealers are different from polishes and are actually designed to keep liquids and dirt particles from sinking into your granite surfaces. Porous granite tiles should be sealed after installation; this initial seal can last up to 15 years depending on the quality of sealer used and the level of regular wear and exposure. It is important to call us as soon your granite tiles are installed so we can protect them before any accidental damage occurs.
